2013 – 2014 London Visits
On Saturdays 2 and 16 November over 700 new Club members came for an inspirational visit to London.
This year the National Art & Design Saturday Club is running in 34 locations across the UK - from Sunderland to Derry and Llanelli to Falmouth - providing 30 weeks of free art and design classes on Saturday mornings.
The Club members, tutors and student assistants visited the Great Hall at King's College for a welcome by John and Frances Sorrell.
Club members had the chance to see a pop-up exhibition of self-portraits from all the Clubs as well as their own, before going on to specially arranged visits of museums and galleries.
We are grateful to all the museums and galleries who welcomed the Club members: Aram Gallery, Barbican Centre, The Courtauld Gallery, Hayward Gallery, the Queen's Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, Tate Modern and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
"The majority of students had never been to London before and some had never been on a plane, they truly gained an invaluable experience"
Elaina Smith, tutor at North West Regional College
Thanks to Cass Art and to Derwent for providing the bags and materials for the members' packs. Special thanks to King's College for hosting the visit.
"Our Club members thoroughly enjoyed their time in London.
We wish we could have stayed longer!"
